Fall is my absolute favorite season!! There’s something so refreshing about the changing of the leaves, crisp autumn air, and pumpkin flavored goodies that make me all giddy inside! It’s no secret that I love to add simple touches to my home to reflect the seasons and holidays, and fall is no exception. I started refreshing my door wreath mid-August, then made myself wait until to September to actually hang it. I’m sharing some of my favorite things to do this season in a fall bucket list (which you can also print for free)!

1. Add touches of fall decor around the house

I like to update my wreath for the front door and add fall leaves and faux pumpkins around the house. I printed a cute Harvest banner I found online a few years ago for the fireplace, which is hung at the top of my stair rail this year. The finishing touches are a few of my autumn dish towels on the oven, along with some pumpkin scented candles, and viola!

2. Decorate the front porch

I always have big ambitions for my porch to look like something out of Better Homes and Gardens, but it never quite turns out that way. A few pumpkins, scarecrows, and bales of hay usually complete the look. I’m trying my hand at keeping a few mums alive this fall.

3. Make pumpkin flavored pancakes & goodies

I have a bit of an obsession with pumpkin spice! I love trying new recipes using pumpkin flavor. We have a pancake Friday tradition, so I’m excited about incorporating pumpkin into the recipe!

4. Go apple picking

I’ve never done this before with the girls, but now that we’re in Prague where apple trees are plentiful, I can’t wait! We’ve been walking past apple trees all summer, trying to hold off picking them until they were ripe enough to eat.

5. Make fall crafts with the kids

I’ve got some neat crafts planned for the girls to do for fall. We started with a mosaic apple that I came up with on the fly. I plan to incorporate some of the things they’re thankful for as well so that we can discuss them and put them on display. Don’t be intimidated by trying to come up with fall themed crafts…Pinterest is full of ideas! You can also keep things simple by using natural elements like leaves and pine cones to create something fun.

6. Visit a pumpkin patch

I’ve been chomping at the bit to get to a pumpkin patch! It’s one thing I always look forward to doing with the girls. The spirit of the season is captured in the very essence of a good pumpkin patch! Warm cider, bales of hay, and tons of pumpkins are my jam.

7. Buy a few new scarves

Scarves are a lot of fun! You can change the whole look of an outfit by adding a scarf. They’re also useful for an added layer of warmth against the crisp autumn breeze. I’m looking for smaller scarves this season so the girls can enjoy them as well! There’s nothing cuter than a toddler in cute boots and a scarf, right?

8. Take a drive to see the fall leaves

I’ve been watching the tree outside my window, observing the changes as summer fades into fall. I am really looking forward to taking a scenic drive along the Czech countryside to see the beautiful mix of yellow, green, orange, and red.

9. Attend a fall festival…or two

Festivals are great, especially when you have young kids because they can participate in most of the activities. We enjoy the ones that offer crafts, old school carnival games, and trail rides.

10. Enjoy a pumpkin spice latte

Call me crazy, but I don’t frequent Starbucks much until fall when the Pumpkin spice latte is on the menu. I’m always excited to enjoy a few of these seasonal treats during the season. I’ve heard McDonald’s has a pretty tasty pumpkin flavored coffee as well, but I can’t vouch for that.

Most importantly, reflect on the many reasons you have to be thankful and share your gratitude with someone else.

  1. Oh, I love autumn! I miss fall in Northern VA. Italy’s autumn is quite different- no pumpkin patches around our area. However there is a farm exhibit going on this weekend, so I think that will do! Btw, I want to do #5! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It’s the best, right? I’ll bet it was nice in Virginia with the beautiful changing of the leaves and tons of farms and pumpkin themed activities! Let me know how the farm goes this weekend. We’re looking for pine cones on all our walks so we can make some cool fall crafts! ๐Ÿ™‚
